My Infant Daughter was Injured under Hospital Care
My daughter who is now 5 months old, was burned 3 times while she was in the Nicu, at days old on her wrist(initially they lied and said tape rip her skin off) 5 days old on her forehead(slight scar ) 6 days old on her foot(severe). The scar from the burn is the most severe, she currently under the care of a plastic surgeon, the scar is located on her joint, and the concern is mobility restriction. I understand infiltrations are common; however the degree of the burn had to be neglect. The day this happen I left the hospital a little after midnight, and supposedly the burn was noticed around 2am. I really think they're lying about the time frame. As soon as I got returned to the NICU the following day I was greeted by charge nurse who advised me I had to meet with the nurse manager and risk management rep regarding the injury. Due to the injury she had to spend 2 additional days in the hospital (which I’m responsible for) and I had to pay for 3 medications out-of-pocket to care for the burns before they would release her. I was released without an aftercare follow up physician, and her pediatrician would not touch her. I was not able to find a plastic surgeon that would see her due to one reason or another, so I was forced to take her to the ER of the same hospital that responsible for the burns. Now they're sending me bills for her care, which was due to they're neglect. I have no idea what to do from this point? I have been looking for lawyers who would possibly take the case, but everyone that I have talked to, either doesn’t handle those cases or say they will get back with me. So, I was wondering do I have a case against the Hospital that was handling her care?
