Shame for High School Football - Lack of action by the school

what does it take to get rid of a high school football coach in Alabama? This man has disrespected his players, the community and is not the kind of figure to be in control of a sports team. He is single-handedly lost his senior offensive line because they will not play for someone who does not respect them. Not only that he has dogged them, and the community as well as the previous coach. The previous coach did not have a winning record for the last several years but the parents new he cared about our kids and they would be safe. This is just not the case anymore.

This one is hard for me because I played HS football and we had to earn the respect of the coach and the way we did that was to have a good attitude, show up for practice on time, and give our best on the field. I know that's not the answer you're looking for so the best I can do is tell you that a coach who doesn't win won't be employed for long. Without players he can't win so it's only a matter of time.

Set up a meeting with the principal and have all of the interested parents present. Have someone keep notes on meeting. Also have all parents there sign a petition to remedy situation. It's best to speak with all parents prior to meeting and document issues. Be prompt, clear, and thorough about every concern. The quicker you act, the faster the matter will be resolved. Be patient but swift. If that fails bring it to school board, local newspaper, and television network. Always let it be known that the children are the number one concern and that you all want positive, responsible, and professional role models as coaches. Anything less is unacceptable! Good luck!
