Sex in a new relationship

How long do you wait in a new relationship before having intercourse? Is there a time frame or a moment when you decide that it's a good idea or is it a spontaneous thing?

When I grow up, I wanna be a principal, or a cat-erpiller......

Well, from a male standpoint...it all depends on what your intentions for the relationship are.  If you both are mature and know you're just having fun, you might as well skip all the silly courting rituals and waiting and get right to the 'mutual masturbation', as it were.  Hence, the one night stand.

However, I've got to assume due to the nature of your question that we're talking about a REAL relationship, one in which both partners have a chemistry and see a potential future together...in which case the answer is, whenever it happens naturally...and by naturally (I hate to say this because I'm sure the fellas will scoff), I mean - you're both SOBER, aware of your actions, aware of the consequences, aware that no matter what you think, the act will forever alter your connection to that person (you're no longer 'just friends'), and aware of the responsibilities that will be expected of you as a willing partner in the relationship.  Good, meaningful, memorable sex ALWAYS is based on both parties being mature enough to handle it.  Age isn't as large a factor as emotional maturity is....so ask yourself this before you start stripping down...how many previous relationships has he/she been in?  How many sexual experiences has he/she had before this?  The lower the number, the more likely that your partner will consider the act of sex with you to be EXTREMELY meaningful and powerful, so just don't mess with their emotions, be a responsible adult...and seriously, try not to break any hearts.  If you aren't sure you TRULY care about him/her and you convince yourself that if you just have sex ONCE and it'll solidify your feelings....you are NOT mature enough to handle it.  Consider sex an extension of your emotions....is it love or lust...and if it's lust, make sure it's a MUTUAL lust...or else you may be breaking a heart that doesn't deserve it, just to get your jolly's.  Might sound fun, but in the end, it'll really tear at your conscience....bad karma comes around.

Cheers!

Love is the battery of life....

Hi,
Yes there is a strict time frame.... it is exactly: 2 days, 12 hours, 34 minutes and 21 seconds.....  Now seriousely.... It all depends on the persons involved, their age, their culture, and above all the attraction..... It can happend after several minutes it can take months.... or sometimes years....  Yes it is very much spontaneous some "nature call".
Best regards,

Love your life as you only get one.

I usually try to wait until at least until the third week I'm dating someone. That usually gives me a better opportunity to get know the guy and see if he's just looking for some action or if he's looking for something long term. But if the guy doesn't bring it up at all, than I end up waiting even longer and I don't mind this either.

MY inferiority complex isn't as good as YOURS

I've had it both ways.I used to pounce the second the chemistry was built up and I had the urge. Then I had an experience with a guy who wined and dined me until we slept together (on our third date) then only called when he wanted to have sex and the romantic nights out ceased to exist.I don't want that to happen again so I wait until I've established a real connection with someone and decided he's mature enough to handle a sexual relationship. In my experience, one night stands have their time and place but don't usually kick off a deep commitment.

I think it would be better to wait a couple of weeks , if the person is really into you  he would understand  and wait.  If the person is just for the kick of a quick sex he won't last.

Here I posted a similar one on site.
