Severe trauma to the head.

2 yrs ago I suffered severe trauma to the head,in a car accident. I have since had c.t.'s,m.r.i.'s etc.. Doc's all say everything looks o.k. . I have trouble with short-term memorey. I cant tell you what all I did today. Not in a sense of 1st to last of every moment of my day.Just the basic day to day stuff. I remember going to town.I just cant remember what for. I know I picked up a carton of cigarettes. But that wasnt the main purpose that i went to town. I did what I had set out to goto town for first. But here I am 4 hrs later. And I cant remember what that was.I also seem to have insomnia. I have at times remained awake without sleep for 48+ hrs. straight.......

Anyone else have this type of problem, besides folks with alzhimers etc...?

You may have suffered from brain damage without it showing on the MRI or CT scan.  You should consider going to a neuropsychiatrist that can perform some memory tests on you that will verify frontal lobe damage.  You may also have temporal lobe involvement with sleep disorders.  Hope you have insurance to cover this

I've been given tests by a state doctor. My psychiatrist suggested i look to get financial help or "Disability". Suposed to goto court with that sometime or another. But thanks for the comment.

If you have a supporting psych that will help you get disability I would go for it for now. I would also ask the doc if there are specific mental exercises you can do to improve your symptoms.  If the damage is from the accident, I would assume you will not get "worse" with symptoms.  In fact, there is therapy that can help you regain and rewire your brain patterns to better remember things. I would be assertive in approaching this doc in asking for further rehab! Laughing
