Seroma or rather unremoved tissue

My wife has to go in for "revision" surgery for what we were told was a seroma build up below the incision that was evident after her bandages were removed. The doctor said he had a "hard time" in working with the top of the breast, but the top came out flat and without incident, but the bottom had a one inch tall protrusion along the bottom of the scar. I was concerned that maybe the surgeon did not fully complete the mastectomy due to the extra time required to do the top section. How can I gracefully inquire if the bulge is truly a seroma or rather un-removed tissue (or both)? Ed

I enjoy using Yedda to ask and answer medical questions. I previously worked as a nurse but am now based from home - having just completed a long spell of breast cancer treatment.

Life has also been busy lately after the arrival of our new puppy called poppy. She's a black labarador retriever and drives us all crazy at times but we just adore the buzz she brings to the house. Last week she caused me a shoulder injury by tugging when out walking - but I can forgive that for the fun she brings.

Last month my husband invested in the Resperate device for lower blood pressure - and boy is it effective? We've discovered that it's much better overall to lower blood pressure naturally.

I too had seroma following mastectomy and only ever needed simple drainage with a fine needle. I have never heard of surgery for treatment of seroma. Hope this helps.

On the Internet I have tried to look up a second surgery after a mastectomy  to remove a seroma and have found nothing.  I suspect that the second surgery was really to "finish off" removing some left over breast tissue that was not removed due to possible time constraints of the first surgery because of some type of unspecified complications.  If that was the case I doubt the surgeon would say so.
