Senior parents

My parents are in their 80's and live in Fla. My sister is close by and takes care of them best she can. Personally I don't like living in Fla. as we did in our younger years. My husband himself is in his 70' and wants to be here near his children and grandchildren in N.C. I have been several times to visit my parents. What do others think? Am I right in standing by my husband or go to my parents with him. My Dad doesn't like my husband because he talks to much.

I'm not quite clear on what you're asking, but here's what I think.

~ Take advantage of whatever time and opportunity you may have to spend time with your parents. They are in their 80's and may not be around much longer.

~ If your husband does not care to go, then go without him. There is nothing to keep the two of you from doing something apart, for a change. In fact, if your father and your husband don't get along then it is better not to throw them together if you don't have to.

~ Try not to neglect your home life while you focus on your parents. If your husband feels he is less important to you than your parents, it is likely to cause more discord and add more stress to your life. Do your best to reassure your husband that you still love him even though it may appear your priorities are elsewhere.

The bottom line is, don't neglect your parents but keep in mind you are now more than just their little girl. You have a husband and a family of your own to think of, too.
