When I was a very small child in Israel, in the early fifties, my father used to sing me a lullaby that began, "Shkhav bni, shkhav bimnukha, al na tivkeh mara." I've been searching for the rest of the words online, but haven't found them. Any ideas?
Can you read Hebrew, or only speak Hebrew? I found the words
Thanks, Gute! I do read Hebrew.
I was surprised by these words. It seems that this song, like many so-called children's songs, carry a heavy political message. I'm wondering if these are political words to a pre-existing lullaby, or if this is in fact the original version.
In any event, I appreciate your finding this for me!
