Seat belt alert in Mazda 3

How do I disable the annoying beeping sound alerts in Mazda 3 when driving without fastened seat belts? I tried disconnecting the cable that leads to the base of the seat belt but that also does something to the air bag system (the red icon of the air bag stays lit on the dashboard) on top of disabling completely the notification about the seat belt.

I don’t mind the seat belt red icon on the dashboard, I just want to disable that terrible sound when I drive 5 meters without the seat belt on, God forbid.

Thanks.

Thanks Yaniv.

While it does not specifically discuss Mazda 3 and refers to older models of the Mazda Miata, it does refer to the same issue and gave me some creative ideas what to try next.

I guess I will arm myself with some tools and go test how good these ideas are...or wreck the brand new Mazda 3.

If anyone have more specific instructions how to do this on the Mazda 3, I'd be happy to hear them.

- Daniel

Personal knowledge. Delivered.

Yedda is a great place to share it.

What I would do instead of messing with the electronic wires, just get an extra seat belt buckle and stick it in. this way you just trick the micro-switch.

Nevertheless - remember Seat belts are life savers - Put them on !

5 thumbs up
(and today was a day just like any other)

id suggest going over the manuel with a fine-toothed comb

usually you have to do something like turn the car on, hit the seat belt release button 3x, turn the car off, hit the button 2x, turn the car on and htne the beep is gone...

Put your seat belt on immediately after entering the car and the sound shouldn't happen
