Sealed adoption, need to unseal for medical reasons...How do I do it??? Help please!!!

How can one get "sealed" adoption from South Carolia, ( Catholic Chairities) unsealed for finding out medical history of ones biological family?? I know I've tried before but it never had to do with medical issues..This time I NEED to know biological medical backround.  Is there anyone that has been throught this that can direct me in the right way?? is it even possible??

Thank you so so much!!!

Have you tried the online adoption sites that match birth parents with adopted children?  Both parties must be seeking to make the match work. If you haven't tried it lately, try it now.  Also, go directly to Catholic Charities and see what they can tell you.

Having been adopted through the same organization in 1948 (Virginia), I was told as recently as four (4) years ago, once they are sealed--it would take a Court Order to accomplish getting ANY information, even though I know my birth parents names.

BikerCCO has given you a good suggestion.  Please follow-up.

Best of success to you.

Honestly, I am not certain whether this would be possible. Possibly the agency (or other facilitator of the arrangement) could retrieve that records for you or make initial contact to obtain permission to initiate a meeting/conversation between you.

I would strongly suggest youcontact an attorney. If the attorney who assisted with your adoption is unavailable for some reason you can fid a family law attorney at this LINK . Just click on your state or the state where the adoption took place.

God did not give me the spirit of fear, but that of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.  11Timothy 1:7

My child is adopted.  He needed the sealed records opened.  He contacted a Lawyer and the seal was broken, however, the biological parents names, age etc. has been blacked out. To find a parent/child, both have to be searching.  I am not sure about all the States, but it seems to me, back in the 80's it became a law that after a child reaches a certain age, or for medical reasons the seals could be broken.  If you know someone that works in the Catholic Charaties who would be kind enough to look in the files, the information is also there.  That is however, very risky.  Good luck to you, and I hope you are satisfied with what you discover.  God bless
