This is the simplest one I could find.

A short video shows how a coil, (which you can cover to make your wheel), can be made to spin. Things needed:- some small pieces of wood, some connection wire, a strong bar magnet, copper coil wire, a powerful battery source such as a power pack. It looks "doable".

If you cannot get that to work in any way try buying a "make your own motor" kit from a toy shop.

They have already sorted out how to overcome friction problems and make good connections.

I hope it works out for you. Regards - Ian

Electric motors and dynamos work in similar ways with one making electricity from spinning movement and the other making magnets spin using electricity.

You can make an electric motor by wrapping/coiling a magnet with copper wire and adding electricity. You can then use the motor to make a propeller move and use it as a fan. If you use a rechargeable battery such as a lemon with different types of metal poking in it (google lemon battery) you can blow on the propeller and use it as a dynamo to recharge the battery.
