Don't just rock the boat, turn it over, if you're not on it!

I believe Blade Runner in the 80's was the best. But then you have Serenity.Wink

Andromeda Strain. It shows the scientific method at work while showing man at his best and worse: those willing to sacrifice their lives for science and for others, and those searching for the ultimate weapon while cloaking it as science exploration.

Spread the wealth to people who won't work!

John Carpenter's "The Thing" was a very scary movie. I guess it could be considered to be a science fiction/horror movie. This is one scene where they were testing different crew members to see who's body the Thing had taken over.

AP, I have to agree with you about Blade Runner. It had all great actors in it starting with Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer and on.  It definitely is on my all time favorite movie list.

Especially the scene at the end when Rutger Hauer was chasing Ford and saved him from falling off the roof. When he gave his little speech to Harrison Ford, it was a touching scene I thought.

"You have to die a little bit, in order to learn how to live."

Hi again,

This is an interesting paradox because our technology is at the point where it is hard to separate science fiction from what is fact and what is fiction.

From the classics I have to go with "The Time Machine" story by H.G. Wells, however, on a more contemporary note, Carl Sagan's "Contact" staring Jodi Foster is my favorite.  Be well. Live long and prosper (the travler).

One other Sci-Fi movie that is considered a classic is 2001  A Space Odyssey. The special effects were great, especially for the time of production in 1968. I saw this movie on a wide screen and it was really impressive.
