"If there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may have peace"

Best speeches are always short and to the point. Far to often, speakers get off on tangents and alienate their audience. But what people do like is motivation, they want to hear what you can do for them and what you can change. Put together a platform of ideas focus the speech on three of them and make sure these ideas are not pie in the sky ideas, but truly attainable goals.

Good speeches engage the audience and fire them up. One last thing which you should  keep in mind. People often try to gain support by bad mouthing their opponents, this is a mistake. No one wins elections by soley slinging mud at their competitors. Win them over with ideas and a vision. Make sure the vision is something they can see themselves  being apart of.

Good Luck

God isn't mad at you.

Excellent thoughts from jonhall316. To reiterate:

Think about your audience. What are their needs? What does each want from a school president? What can you realistically offer?

What can you say to help your audience identify with you?

You need to wind up with a "call to action." "Vote for me" is good - but it has to be the natural, obvious, and inevitable conclusion to the points you make.

Best wishes!

Fertility Stories - infertility experiences of people like you.

Oops - didn't see the other great answers when I started typing this...

Start with an outline of the points that you want to make, e.g.,

- School should be a place we enjoy coming to
- Participating in more national competitions will provide more opportunities for our students

Next outline the reasons you are qualified to be school president.

Last, turn it into a speech:

- Introduction, with a message you're going to come back to at the end of your speech.

- Elaborate on the points you want to make

- Tell us what you're going to do to make them happen

- Tell us the reasons you're qualified

- Conclude the speech by getting back to the initial message.

Keep your speech on track & it will be easy for people to follow.

Good luck :-)

I ran for school office and won! Just act natural, create a conversation, act like your talking to your friend really passionately tell your vision for the school! Then the audience will see how passionate you are for the school!
