How do you save money on your grocery bills?
Do you clip coupons? Do you buy store brands? Do you go for economy size?
If u live in a place u can compare prices with the different groceries and do not have additional cost getting there, generally what will happen is that u will be able to bye several products in each store that r the cheapest, meaning:If u "spread" your shopping's wisely you`ll be able to save...(ps:products on "real"sale u bye in quantity)
Life is short. Eat dessert first.
I grew up in a large family so it was always important to do whatever we could to save some extra dollars. We used to get the Sunday paper and there would always be a fight over between the kids over who could cut the coupons. Whatever we didn't use or need, my mother used to take with her to work to give to her co-workers. I don't recall there every being a trip to the grocery store where we didn't save at least $15-$30 on the bill. And when I was in college, I cut coupons and saved enough money each month to splurge on going out to dinner with my girlfriends. I've been out of college for some time and I still clip coupons! It's too hard not to clip them!
Here is a web site taking a survey on walmart brand products. It is not associated with walmart. You can get the results for free.
Wow, lot's of grocery shoppers today! PaigeH recently asked a similar money saving coupon question.
As I mentioned in that post, a lot of people who want to save money on grocery bills or other purchases go and check www.deals.com before they shop. Deals has more than just coupons - it is a user driven community where anyone can post a deal or coupon and others can find out about deals and print coupons. They cover most online and offline retail stores. Check it out, and save some cash.
coupons are ok sometimes but are generally for name brand products=expensive. study the adds that come in the mail each week; especially for meat sales. learn the usual prices on products you almost always purchase, at all the stores you visit, even if you just stopped for a few things take the time to look at your "staples" and veggies. soon you will know which store to go to for what products. don't go driving accross town!!!!!!!!!! not unless it is worth the gas! that would have to be quite a sale these days! by only what you will use in one week when it comes to veggies and such that rot quickly! plan meals ahead. don't shop when you are hungry! don't take the kids or hubby! take your time! freeze everything you can when you get it home. you can always defrost it, don't take a chance that it will rot in the fridge-best laid plans....buy only some things in bulk. like eggs, milk usually sells cheaper if you buy 2 at a time. $ store for bread. cook smaller meals so there are little or no left overs to go to waste. freeze left overs by the second or third day, people are tired of them now and probably won't eat them. defrost later; spice them up a bit and serve a few weeks later. there are more tricks but got to go.
I definitely save money by shopping for groceries in walmart i've seen a savings ie: $70.00 spent $20.00 saved from other super markets. Coupons is an additonal savings.
I shop at Coctco and Bj's. i go for the economy size, because i buy in bulk
I try to shop in the stores like ALDI that has all types of food like a regular supermarket has but since most of it is not name brand, you still spend a lot less. No cupones though but with the prices you really don't need them. Wal-Mart is also good in their food prices. Cereal, $2.99 vs. shop rite or acme, pathmark, $4.99. and a variety of other foods are available and bette prices.
