Sarah Palin's Impact

In his first post-election interview, John McCain said he "couldn't be happier" with his choice of running mate Sarah Palin. How do you think she affected the election -- and what lies ahead for her?

Palin offered a conservative base to the Republican party that had been missing.  The fact that she is the Governer of Alaska is a plus, she has executive experience.  I also, personally liked her stance on pro-life issues.  I think John McCain didn't have a chance once the economy went south.  Romney then would have been the best selection for a VP candidate, but then everyone would say he was a loser because he had a Mormon on the ticket.  Would I vote for Palin in 2012?  I wouldn't discount the possiblity, however, a lot can happen in 4 years and I want the best candidate not just someone who the "world" can love

When John Mccain choose Sarah Palin as a running mate it gave me a more positive veiw of him and more hope in the election. I was sorry they didn't win and I think they both would have done a fine job. I also hope this isn't the last we hear of Sarah Palin

While spirit, enthusiasm, and presence are important; there is no substitue for experience, knowledge, temperance, discipline and proffesional candor.

Unfortunately, Sarah Palin was woefully lacking in all of the later qualities.

I am a life-long Rebublican; however I am mature and intelligent enough to admire Democrats who have been tremendous statesmen. I wonder what was on the mind of the RNC when they chose Gov. Palin. As crude as some of the comments and charecterizations of her may have been, her behavior did little to dispel them.

The efforts of some to showcase her as "battle ready" by stating that she is:

1. Commander of the 49Th Air defense wing Of the ANG...all Govenors are in Command of their States National Gaurd Units.

2. She recieves High level Security Breifings on national defense..all govenors do

3. She has a higher security clerance than any of the other candiddates..a dubious claim at best.... .I had an "eyes only" while I was on active duty...and I was only a Combat Medic (NavyHospital Corpsamn serving with USMC).

4. She had Excecutive Desicion  Powers...The other candidates wrote laws.

In the Final analysis, ask yourself 2 questions.....

A. Would Gov. Palin have been ready, truly ready if God forbid  Sen. McCain had been permanantly incapacitated? (read this any way you like)

b. Is the second most powerful office in the United States of America a venue for OJT ?? (on the Job Training)

Sarah Paulin is one of the most vapid, ignorant, bible beating, dopes ive ever seen. What a mess she put the repubs in......John McCain might have won if she wasnt chosen by whomever in his party to be his runing mate. Now after this experience im sure we wont have a repub in office anywhere for the next decade or two...talk about gun shy, weve had our fill of creeps like Bush. Cheney, Rove and Paulin, ugh what a bunch of creepy people....

The Democrats are lucky actually that the repubs are even more ignorant and stupid for thinking that the American people hadnt had their fill of mess ups and corruption. War and poverty snuck up and bit them in the ass.....If they( democrats) hadnt gotten lucky we might today have McCain loading all the cannons with grape shot and lording it all over the citizens in this country...

He reminds me of one of those pasty faced, white powdered wig wearing lords in the english past. He thinks even his own poop dont stink....Gad, hope emanual doesnt blow it for Obama. Not sure bout this choice.....

Why not a great guy like Edwards or something .....or even Kennedy

( the younger)....anyways about Sarah. I wouldnt of kicked her out of bed for eating crackers but....Looks arent everything ha ha

Shes gonna be back at her office in Alaska watching russia out of her office window....and thinking of ways to raise taxes and keep those groovy red FM shoes....

I don't feel she was given a fair shot.  People condemned her right from the beginning.  She was not trying to fullfil the shoes of Hillary Clinton.  She was her own person and I felt she could relate to us little people.  Everyone forgets or doesn't want to hear or be reminded that many years ago before my time we had another vice president with little or no experience and no one put him down for it.  Teddy Roosevelt???  Shame on those of you who fell for all the bad mouthing they did to Sarah Palin and shame on you for listening to all the crap that was said about her.

I was flabbergasted with the choice. Not that she is a bad person, but I thought that her background did not show any indications that she was ready to become President. It was more so confirmed by her interviews showing a lack of indepth thinking on issues. It was true that she energized the base. However, the base alone is not large enough to get the ticket over the hump. It takes more than just the base for the republicans to win elections from now on because of the changed make up of the american population. So, if the republicans dedide for her to becom the ticket in 2012 they are definately going to lose again.
