Sarah Palin's Impact

In his first post-election interview, John McCain said he "couldn't be happier" with his choice of running mate Sarah Palin. How do you think she affected the election -- and what lies ahead for her?

McCain's response is a good reason why he lost the election.  He still will not confront the truth of Palin's hurting his campaign with her hate mongering ignorance.  McCain did not put "country first" in choosing Palin, because the thought of that idiot being a heartbeat away from the presidency scared the hell out of most women I know.

I was not interested in Mccain until Sarah arrived. This woman should and hopefully will run for president in 2012. This country needed Sarah Palin, and instead we got 4 years of trouble on the way. God help America. We were cheated. Obama is not black, he is Mulatto. Obama is not a man for America, but for people such as his past associates. We are in major trouble here !

I think Sarah Palin's place on the Republican ticket was a real bonus for the Democrats...in addition to John McCain's own shift to the right from his previously moderate central positions. I shudder to think of the possibility of Palin being a heartbeat away from the U.S. presidency. Fortunately, the Republicans lost. I think if McCain had had a running mate such as Mitt Romney or someone like him, they'd have been harder to beat (though I wish that were not the case). Whoever thought Hillary Clinton's female supporters would cross over and vote for the ticket Palin was on don't understand either Clinton's supporters or a lot of American women. Women, no more than men, are not interchangeable. In fact, it's pretty insulting to think that people who would support someone as impressive as Hillary Clinton would be willing to support Palin just because she's another woman. Shame on you Republicans.

She is far better than any of the half wits that put her down

I think that if he was stupid enough to pick her as a running mate he deserved to loose the race she has no experience  if she  even thinks of running in 2012 she is even stupider

Sarah Palin certainly contributed to John McCain's defeat but he is too embarassed and proud to admit that he made a mistake. His choice of Sarah Palin as a running mate was another demonstration of his propensity for making erratic decisions. He saw Hillary as a thorn in Obama's side that he could use Palin to push in a little further. He used short-sighted judgement. He did not look long term to see that the excitement for Palin would wear off and she would become an embarassment to him with her lack of knowledge and experience. As for Palin, she is a very bright woman but still very green. She needs a lot more grooming and training to rise to the position of President or Vice President.

The fact of the matter was that no matter who the GOP put up for election, they were not going to win. People believe that Obama was the answer to the many problems that face our great nation. Bush destroyed the party from his unilateral policies and staying in the pockets of the top 1% of our country. I will not argue with the Bush tax cuts but I will argue with him being bought by special interests such as big oil companies and HMO's who are robbing our middle class hand over fist.
