Average, When Thomas Jefferson was Secretary of State, he wrote "If our country had to choose between government and newspapers in order to preserve our freedom, I would choose newspapers". Shortly in to his first term as President, he retracted those words, citing the ignorance of the populace and the ambitions & agendas of the early newspaper publishers.
Fast forward to 2009. Any moron with a keyboard can begin a blog and spew whatever ignorance he chooses, with no regard to the truth and with no attribution to facts.
Sites like salon, yedda, and politico provide forums for morons who never picked up a newspaper or a history book. Or any book, for that matter.
The atmosphere prophesized in "Farhenheit 451" is beginning to emerge. An ignorant populace is easily manipulated into angry mob frenzy.
Wherever I go next after I take my last breath here on Earth, I won't miss the morons who populate the world I'm visiting now. Not a single one of you.
