Sad, lonely and confused

I've been going out with a really cute guy for just over a month. Last night we had a great evening together and at some stage I told him, for the first time, "I love you". He looked really surprised and didn't say anytning! Then everything felt really awkward and he went home shortly after that. I spent most of last night crying.

What do I do now?

Talk to him about it. He might be afraid of those words, not have those feelings, etc... Love is a funny thing some people use the word a lot and some use it sparsely. Love is communication though, so talk to him.

toff - n. Chiefly British Slang. A member of the upper classes, especially one who is elegantly dressed. Also a way to shorten Christopher.

You can't really say that in just that month you love this guy!! yeah he may be cute but there are billions of hot singlge guys out there you can't do that to yourself talk to him. I can tell you right know that guy got freaked out and ran, or he got freaked out and doesn't no what to do? give it time.

yeah i agree with most of the answers already given yet i told my girlfriend the first night i love her .and it worked out fine yet its still a battle from time to time cause of the long distance hang in there and see if he calls you and if he hasnt in say a week then phone him and say hey whats up how you doing and gently bring in the subject to what you said . its  nothing to get freaked out and has you were  just showing your feelings i am sure it wont be anything that cant be worked out .

It does seem a little soon, but the best way to get through this spot is to talk to him and tell him that it wasn't your intent to scare him.  While you may love him, understand his side that it may not come as quickly to him.  Some people have been hurt and are gaurded, you have to give room for that.

I think that maybe until you both have resolved your feelings of love together, it may be time to place the I love you's on the back burner for a while.  The ball is kind of in his court now, so it will be up to him to let you know when he feels the same.  Make sure not to push the issue and enjoy your relationship and have fun, this is just a bump in the road.

best wishes.
