Romance at a rising cost

For our 15th anniversary, I got my wife a timeshare at our old honeymoon resort. We’ve enjoyed it for over 7 years. But over that time, the monthly fees have gone up considerably, to the point neither of us see a point in keeping it. This is a deeded property, and the sellers market for timeshares is awful. Has anyone had a similar experience trying to get away from this sort of thing?

Nothing is good unless you play with it.

Timeshares are a scam: period, and I’ll tell you why. The sell it to you under the pretense that it’s an “investment” like any other other real estate. Yet the contract you sign is loaded with clauses that allow them to keep raising your fees. In reality it’s an anti-investment. You should get professional assistance from a timeshare relief company.

Honestly, I'd try to get rid of it. Advertise, sell to the highest bidder, and enjoy a great and spontaneous vacation with your wife at a location of your choice.

I don't like these time shares because as you've indicated they aren't cheap, they're pretty constrictive, and you end up dreading going on vacation.
