Romance, Love and Technology

Can someone express their love in a virtual way?

Is technology killing the romance? Can you have a technology based relationships?

For example, if you got a teddy on facebook, is it the same as getting one for real? (assuming they cost the same)

In a way technology is taking the romance out of communication. People do not have to make as much of an effort as they used to to express themselves. Getting a birthday wish on a facebook wall does not have as much meaning as a phone call or a visit because it requires little effort. I am not implying that it has no meaning at all; it is still a kind aknowledgement of a birthday and a sign that they are thinking of the birthday girl or boy. However, with all of the dating websites today I think that technology has also facilitated many healthy relationships. I have an aunt who met her husband of 15 years on a dating website and they are very happy. Internet communication is a great way to get to know someone on a basic level but I think face-to-face interaction is necessary to deepen the connection.

I belong to a different generation I guess. I can't understand how an email or a computer image of a gift is supposed to be enough as a token of love.

I don't understand what's exciting about the virtual thought of love any more than I can grasp people who are excited because they see a picture of a great chocolate cake.

The only way to really sample a chocolate cake is by eating that cake. But that's just the opinion of an old lady.

regret is full of missed opportunities.......

i'm afraid to say no its not...

if i went out thinking of you, bought you a teddy i had hand picked, then gave it to you with a big kiss, a lovely hug and told you that i loved you, so when i wasn't with you, you could always give the teddy i gave you a hug on those cold nights alone. is that as good as a a cyber picture of one on facebook? i hope so! i mean us humans need contact, to feel wanted, needed, and above all loved and i just don't think you can give all those emotions via a computer....

admittedly sometimes that can not be avoided and is the only way to make contact, like my girlfriend is going away for awhile so i will prob be sending her teddys via facebook, but never be as good as the real thing....

In this delicious implementation of the present god-eat-god multiverse, we offer world-class opinions and expertise for you on a lot of stuff, just ask.  if we don't know, then you forget about it...

Yeah, they mix in a creepy way, as seen in the world of the so-called "emo's."

In our limited humble opinion, they should never mix.  technology and romance rather cancel each other out.  get off the computer for a date.

You ever hear someone say, "Go and hug a tree"? Well! Did you ever see or feel a tree that hugged you back? Empty hearts and empty arms is what   Technological-Love is all about, Yuk!, Yuk!, Yuk!.
