Richard Dawkins is a role model of mine. He is apparently the most respected atheist in our current sociocultural milieu.I read his books and try to incorporate what I learn into my own life. Sammy Davis, Jr., the late entertainer was the best all-round show-business performer, a triple threat, singer-dancer-actor/comedian. His autobiography, "Yes, I Can!" - demonstrates how a positive attitude even in the face of cruel and degrading treatment during his Army years by Southern racists - helped him to overcome his tormentors and to progress in spite of them. A functional illiterate when he entered the Army - Sammy was taught to read by his superior. He devoured all the books his CO offered him."Shane" - the lone gunfighter in the movie of the same name. Shane befriends a family and steps up to confront the threatening elements to them and other small ranchers in the area. Shane expects nothing for himself - but he is no altruistic sap. He is good at what he does and puts it to good use.
