Robot Chicken Star Wars

How did Robot Chicken get permission to do a parody of Star Wars?  I had thought that George Lucas was strict about protecting the Star Wars franchise.  Does Seth Green -- or the adult swim people at Cartoon Network -- have any connections with George Lucas?
