River Surfing

Has anyone tried river surfing?

Isn't it too dangerous to surf on body-board without any way of controlling it, and sharp rocks to crush on instead of soft sand?

Hi

I have some details about river surfing.  Normally the wave is stationary on the river. A river surfer can face up-stream and catch this wave and have the feeling of traveling fast over water but not actually be moving.
