Out of a thousand people who think they can write, maybe 100 will finish something they start. Out of that 100, maybe 10 will sell a story. Out of that 10, maybe 1 will sell a second story and become a professional. Being an authour is not a way to make big money. Even the authors who sell regularly and are considered successful still have their day jobs. Very very very few make enough to write full time. The Stephen Kings are exceptions to the rule. Being a professional writer is not an easy profession. It's damned hard work. We do it because we HAVE to. We can't NOT write and we usually don't do anything else very well.
I don't say these things to discourage you if you genuinely want to become a writer. But you need to know the reality of the profession. It involves a lot of sacrifice, a lot of self discipline, a lot of work, a lot of rejection and not a hell of a lot of money.
