Rh Negative Pregnancy

Hi,

my daughter was pregnant with twins (3rd pregnancy) and she is Rhneg. One of the babies died early on (8wks?) and now her body has started to make antibodies to fight against the baby that is still alive. What will happen from here? She still has 4 months to go in this pregnancy.

Do the doctor's know if they were identical or ferternal twins? if they were ferternal twins could be that this baby could have the same rh factor as the mommy and stands a better chance at surviving without complications. It's really hard to tell in these situations, but I am sure the doctor is monitoring her closely. He may even recommend an earlier delivery if the baby stands a risk to exposing the baby to her rh positive antibodies. If the doctor hasn't explained the process basically when the mother's antibodies are passed on to the infiant they attack all his red blood cells supplying oxygen to his body which if the baby does survive delivery could still suffer brain damage. Also are they sure that it is because of her RH factor that the baby died? Was her last child RH positive and she never recieved the rhogam shot? I'm really hopeing for you that her pregnancy goes well, but after this she may not want to try again cause it will end in the same results more than likely.

Im sorry for your loss. My sister experienced the same thing. My sister was pregnant with identical twin boys and they were due in July but they both were delievered in May. They were in ICU and by June one of them passed away and the other is now almost 6 and he is healthy and loving. Again i am sorry for your loss. Remembering Our Babies. I hope everything went well. Oh yea my sister used to go to share meetimgs at the hospitals and it helped her a lot so if she is having problems you should recomend the share meetings in the hospital.

Did she get the anti D shots?

If so it should be working. I understand the pregnancy progressed on track so far, so I'm guessing the baby is fine. She should have another anti D shot about now  - week 28 (she probably knows that as this is her third pregnancy).

If she's monitored, there's no cause for concern.

Yeah, so her body simply fight antibodies. It's always been like that and that's the way it very likely will stay

How Can I Get Rid of This Yeast Infection?

QUESTION Dear Midwife, I have had a yeast infection throughout my entire pregnancy. My doctor has tested me for STD's and all are negative. He has prescribed metro gel to me. I have used this every few months. I am now on my 32 week and am using this prescription every other week. Is there something stronger I can use or something I can change or do different to help? ANSWER Metrogel will not cure a yeast infection, it's for a bacterial infection and can actually cause a yeast infection. Have you tried Diflucan (the yeast pill)? There are also over the counter yeast preparations and a heavy duty vaginal cream (Terazol) that might be appropriate. If all these fail, borax washes help some women and the yeast can be cultured to see what will kill it. Other things you can do for yourself include eliminating sugars as much as possible (no soda or juices for sure, only two fruits and two dairies per day) and eating more vegetables and proteins.
