I am a foreign medical graduate. Passed usmle step1 and 2ck year 1995. At that time, there was no step 2 cs yet. Tried to apply for res training but they want step 2cs and 'newer' usmle results. Figured out that i might as well retake my passed usmle since i am well beyond the 7/10 year limit of passing all the usmle steps. Called ecfmg but i was told that i should get letter from any state board stating that i should retake the usmle. Called fsmb but was told that i should call the individual states for this. Tried to call individual states but they will only accomodate questions for licensing. How can i really get that letter? I just wanted to retake the steps 1 and 2 to which i am clearly eligible to, having passed them 1995. Please help.
For the record, i tried to apply for US visa 1995 to attend my hospital interviews for possible residency training but was denied 5x. The reason- i am a doctor, female and may not return to my home country after the residency training. it is a never ending circle.
