Resume for US Based Position

When seeking a job in America, should I include personal information like age, religion and political identity?

I know Americans are very strict about withholding information, but is all that really necessary?

You should include all information relevant. I can't think of a position where your religion or political identity would be a factor. Age is trickier. I guess you should leave it out, they'll know once they see you, and there's no point in helping them make the decision not to call you for an interview.

Most important, don't lie, be courteous, concise and clear in your resume.

Tips for Resume Writing

A resume is a written presentation specifically targeted toward landing the job you want. It should reflect the experience and skills you have which are relevant to the job you seek. A resume shouldn't look like a laundry list of job titles and duties. Remember, it's an overview of what you offer as an employee, not an autobiography.

Here are a just a few tips for resume writing:

Be clear, direct, effective and professional. Make your resume easy to read.

Never work alone--pay attentions on the social-network.The social-network is fatal factor for your work present and future, the social-network is the your connections in the society, it can be your parent, friend, classmate, colleagues etc.Good scoial-network can improve your efficiecy, not only on the work itself but also good for your entire future career path.(job-hunting, recruit, professional personal development, life and work advice etc.<a href="http://www.insidersreferral.com/">The Free Insiders Referral Network of Jobs - insidersreferral.com</a> is such tool for your to build such useful network. To expand and enhence your social-network and make it more useful, just go and check it up.

Use bullet statements to facilitate skimming. Avoid long paragraphs and large blocks of text.

Try to keep it to 1 or 2 pages. If you have less than 10 years of experience, a single-page resume is a good rule-of-thumb. You should be able to skim your resume in 25-30 seconds.

Determine a format and stick with it through the resume i.e., ensure section headings have the same placement and font treatment throughout the resume.

Put dates next to the right hand margins.

Information about your most recent job may use current or past tense depending on your current status, only use past tense to describe previous accomplishments, since they are completed actions.

Accurately use up-to-date terminology relevant to the industry you have targeted.

Spell out terms. Avoid abbreviations and acronyms.

Identifying information should be listed on the first page in a balanced, organized layout, including:
    - Name (should stand out, i.e., bold, all capital letters etc.)
    - Street Address
    - City / State / Zip Code
    - Home, Mobile and/or Cell Phone (include 10 digit telephone numbers with area code)
    - Work Phone
    - Email address (include personal not work)

If your resume is more than a single page, be sure to place name and page number in upper right hand corner of the second page.

No. First of all you didn' descibe your job skills, education, Years of experiance and  tipe of work, Related to the position in which your applying. A little backgroud of what accomplishments you may have participated in, Gender and ambitions with your new job. People not only want to know what youv'e achieved butwho you are. We live in a Post 9/11 world and explaining oneself and ther background can be the differance between work ans searching for work. You don'y have to mention everything done in life, just some major achievements and with whom.

I served 24 years in the US Army, and belive me I know what people are looking for. Are you a Team Player, Honest, willing to go the extra mile, Make Sacrifices, Work well with others, being able to handle a task with the least amount supervision. Ask Questions, Challange decissions and not to be afraid to give neqitive feedback on a co-worker. Expect to be on time, and give it your all. Dom't be afraid to fail at one point or anoher, This is chalked up as l.eraning by mistake. No One is perfect, but except whats wrong and make it right. Then one day they will all look up to you for quidence and supervision. in which you will have achieved through trail and errer. And Never look back and never question a decission.
