If I decide to resign, nominating a day 4 weeks into the future as my last day, but my employer then asks me to leave straight away instead, can I be eligible for time in lieu of notice as I planned to work another 4 weeks?

It depends what notice period you have in your contract. If you have a 4 week notice period, they have to pay you for those 4 weeks, even if they ask you to leave straight away. If you have a shorter or no notice period, then they do not have to may you for that time.

My opinion is that if the employer asked you to leave then you would not be eligible to receive any more pay for the future.
