"YOU MUST NOT FEAR, FEAR IS THE MIND KILLER, YOU MUST FACE YOUR FEAR AND LET IT PASS OVER AND THROUGH YOU AND WHEN IT IS GONE, ONLY YOU REMAIN"

Republican Conservatives - Explain yourselves

Can you acknowledge that the Private Sector embodied by wall street, big banks and the credit industry are largely responsible for our economic troubles?

If so, can you acknowledge that without government regulation the private sector would run amok?

If not,  what is there to stop the private sector from reforming into the Robber Barons of old as represented by the Rail Roads, J.P. Morgan, Joseph Kennedy, Standard Oil and Carnegie steel. Current manifestations being Enron, AIG, bank of America and other corporations to large to fail.

Comment: These are the representations of uncontrolled greed and aver-us. This is the Private Sector who would employ, house and provide the company store all the while orchestrating a monopoly and price fixing for the rest of the nation for their own personal profit.

Without government regulation and anti-trust laws we all would be at their mercy, of which they have none, except on Christmas.

So I ask you, if you are not in favor of government regulation what will restrain the private sector and what will serve the public good?

I would be shocked were members of the right being big enough to answer this honestly.  Interestingly, one very conservative economist and former Fed chief, testified that he screwed up (thereby ruining the world's economy) by not putting the brakes on the wild doings by the banks, Wall Street, et al.  Greenspan's testimony was amazing for its honesty, something for which the right is not known.
