Replacing a wall socket

A wall socket in my room was broken after it was hit by a wooden chair. It seems too dangerous to leave it that way so I have decided to replace it myself. Does anyone knows a good resource where I can read how to replace the socker? what do I have to take care of  other than shuting the power off?

Electricity can kill.

Ask a handyman to do it and watch him carefully. That should enable you to make the repair yourself next time.
