Replacing norton antivirus

My Norton antivirus will expire in a few days, so updates will be unavailable for me. I'm looking for a change. Which antivirus I can count on, to do a good job, but not consume many system resources. Or, maybe I should buy a new license from Symantec?

I use

Avast and it seems to be sufficient. Another good one is AVG , both are free.

Do you use it with another anti-spyware tool?, I've checked

Grisoft's URL and they declare that AVG does no anti spyware tasks.
