What is the best and cheapest way to remove rust stains from toilet bowl?

My bathtub had Rust Stains including rust. My son sprinkled Baking Soda liberally on the rust spot, a day later it was gone. Try running water in the sink first to make it moist, sprinkle about a table spoon on the rust area, let the baking soda stay for at least 24 hours. After you try this method email me with the results.

WE have expensive outside lighting fixures which rusted.  Could not get the rust off.  My husband tried Coke (Coca Cola) and eureka, the rust came off!
