Remicade for ulcerative colitis

Remicade is an anti-inflammatorydrug. There are many drugs for ulcerative colitis. It all depends on the Physician,but this is a life long problem. It does go into remission and then there will be flare ups. Keep stress low,don't smoke. Diet does not really cause problems.

Agree with KatieDidIt ... be certain that your physician knows about any unusual symptoms (possible side effects). BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN HEALTHCARE. Ask about alternative medications and maintain a well balanced diet -- if you weren't given a diet or prognosis ASK!

Have a written list of questions before your appointments and ask for a consult with a dietitian. A  journal can be helpful for some patients.

Remember that 'stress' will cause an exacerbation of symptoms so try to maintain a stress level that is as low as possible. You might want to consider one of the multiple ways to control stress. When you need answers CALL YOUR PHYSICIAN.
