~ The Heart is the hub of all sacred places, go there and roam ~

Hey.. Karma happens  :P    In broadest terms ... 'Religion' is the finite mind's contracted concept of  God/Creator.   Whereas "God's" understanding of "God" is Infinite. Perfect BE~ing. The word God itself has always been problematic since there is a LOT of baggage attached to it.    For many religions God is a judgmental, Deity figure which possesses certain attributes ... bestowed on God  and comprehended by, the dualistic and very contracted mind of man.    A finite mind perceives  a finite God... it cannot be otherwise.

It is worthwhile to point out that when people REJECT God  what they are actually rejecting is some IDEA, held via the subjective finite mind,  of what God is for them.  Later, as one's own awareness of Self expands and evolves,  one Realizes that "God" is none of those things.

The Truth is THAT Reality which some label "God"  is INFINITE Awareness and quite beyond the grasp of the finite mind of man in ITs Totality.    ~THAT~ is Perfect BE~ing.. the very essence of everythingand everyone here.   Actually Science has gotten quite close ... think StringTheory here.  Take anything, everything, including our own self down to its base sub sub atomic level and what you end up with is Pure Scintilating, vibratingEnergy.. which IS.. Self Aware.    In other words, this entire Universe is vibrating Consciousness itself.   Not only are we not separate from it.. we ARE IT.

The ancient non-dual mystics ( who really had nothing to do with religions and the finite dualistic mind) understood .. from a Transcendent Perspective... what the very nature of reality was.  Basically the non local / non physical MIND acts as a very elaborate Virtual Reality machine... and typically, has no idea that it is itself the creative aspect of Consciousness. *(Think Matrix here : )

Basically a "Mystic" (in non-religious terms) is one who has successfully moved beyond the dualistic finite mind and  AWAKENED from this dream of  ... Me VS that which is Not Me, and is able to perceive the Infinite, Non-Dual perspective. That which transcends Time/Space but which has simultaneously manifest AS Time/Space.

Ironically, it was to awaken the finite mind to its INFINITE Potential that those such as Jesus and The Buddha, etc. came (and cintinue to come)... alas MOST could not "hear" because they were still far too contracted.. and so they started or stuck with religions and various belief systems... They are still caught in the dream of "Other", Finiteness, and imperfection and will remain there until such time as they are able to expand their finite awareness. Note: This does not come about by any intellectual exercise, since that is still just the workings of the "dreaming" veiled mind.    THIS is where those such as Jesus really do come in handy, but those still in dualistic religions will not, can not, understand why or what the true function of such Beings really is.

SO... if someone ever accuses you of rejecting God... Ask them to consider this.  "God" IS  Perfect Awareness, Pure unlimited Consciousness,  and as such there is nothing there to reject, perfect being PERFECT .. in the Transcendent sense of the word.   So.. IF one is rejecting God.... they are ONLY rejecting some finite and erroneous CONCEPT of God  which is currently being held by the finite and veiled mind.

Or as some ancient and modern mystics put it: From the Perfect comes the Perfect.  If the Perfect is taken away only the Perfect remains.

It is true that we rarely are able to perceive our own Perfection and the Perfection of this world ONLY because our mind is veiled by the contracting ego.  It is like looking out through dirty glasses and project that imperfection onto the world.  The mind is not able to perceive its own error.   However.. when that veil is lifted  (lifetimes), we awaken from this dream of  imperfection and RE-Cognize our own True and Perfect SELF.. which is the same in all.     Religion cannot do this for us because religion itself is caught up in the dream.     It happens from WITHIN  and has nothing to do with one's chosen belief OR disbelief.

I like to point out that if Jesus were to manifest again here on this physical plane .. religion would be the first to condemn him since MOST do not have the ability yet.. to Recognize their own Higher SELF.

When Nietzsche proclaimed  'God is dead'  what he was suggesting was  that the Europeans extremely contracted  religious IDEA of what God was... was dead, or fast dying away.   The days of blind faith acceptance to the fundamental questions of life.. such as WHO AM I?  Where did I come from  were not being addressed, so the evolving soul began to look elsewhere.. which was a very good idea.

The problem though was, and still is  that the subjective mind of man IS finite, while the ONE being sought is Transcendent and Infinite.  We may agree on what God is NOT, but only "God" can reveal, from within.. what   "God" .. and everything here... truly IS.

Ultimately...  there is ONLY this ONE Pure Consciousness and we are the Dream of Consciousness.   Dream and Dreamer are ONE...  something to contemplate.   : )     Peace

Tell it like it is.

By saying convert to, implies you are presently practicing a religion or a sect of a religion and it is not filling your need.  Maybe you are expecting too much of a religion.  To get true satisfaction you must find a religion that is less a religion and more a way of life.  In the history of the Mediterranean area God had three pillars of life style, each contributing there one specialty given to them by God to provide the for the community as a whole.  Those were Judaism, Greek and Egypt.  All three were a monotheistic religion even though Greek and Egypt had many sub gods they only had One Main GOD and at times all three groups referred to Him by the same name, Adonai.  Find a religion that is more a way of living than it is a once a week thing.  Find a way of life religion that is based on truth, not fiction.

Ailfawka, Consider this if you might .... "God" or Unlimited Consciousness .. the core essence of everything here,  is not really about Religion.

I would agree that religions have on many occasions worked to confuse its followers and far worse!  Then again... the ancient religions, being observers of nature and the patterns of the seasons etc. initially helped people by keeping track of things,  letting them know when to plant, when to harvest, and the like.  Unfortunately power does tend to corrupt and we have certainly seen how that works.

So... you address and reject ... God as Deity and the like... and that makes sense.  These Deity figures certainly are constructs of the imagination. They are limited interpretations produced by the finite mind.

But consider ...that there actually IS a Supreme Reality which has nothing to do with religion or judgmental Deities.   The eternal questions that each "ripe" mind begins to ask themselves are .. WHO am I? and Where did I come from?   These are not really questions that dualistic religion wants us to ask.  Luckily we are lead from within, by our own Higher SELF.. to begin seeking THE Truth and ultimately that seeking bears fruit.

I used to be an altruistic agnostic.. now there's a nice label  : ) .. until one amazing day my own Infinite Consciousness revealed ITs SELF to me. Literally out of the "Blue" like a bolt of lightning this recognition comes... usually when one might least expect it.  This direct revelation moves one BEYOND the subjective mind, with all its imaging and imagination to a place of Transcendent Reality .. just words until it actually happens.  Still, suddenly one GETS that nothing here is what it SEEMS to be... nothing !  Especially our own sense of finite self.     So now I am delighted that I did not bite at any belief system.. which is just the workings of the finite mind, but at the same time was able to remained OPEN to  possibilities that can not even be imagined.

So my suggestion to you is......

Yes definitely, throw out ALL your own 'mind concepts' of what "God" is and also of what/who YOU are.   Create an OPEN space, as you yourself suggest, and allow your own True Higher SELF to reveal ITs SELF to you.  Whatever I might suggest to you.. with dualistic words ... what Higher SELF IS  or IS Not, will certainly fall WAY short of ITS reality... but I can suggest to you that this Pure Infinite Consciousness is your actual essence and that it is currently hiding from you.. even as it IS You.

Don't settle for ANYTHING the finite mind reports... because eventually you will see that all this, what we call reality.. is nothing but a Play of Consciousness, having no more substance than a dream.  The mind is much like a complex Virtual Reality machine and because of our contracted state we accept what we EXPERIENCE as the ultimate reality.. it isn't... and even the physical sciences are beginning to comprehend this... think String Theory here. Everything is vibrating subtle energy, aware of its own awareness.   This Self Aware vibrating energy is the sub stratum of this entire universe.                                                                                                                                             The The good news is that eventually we do WAKE UP to our True SELF and KNOW .. from a Transcendent Perspective... the ultimate reality of  I AM.

This Transcendent perspective moves one BEYOND the individual subjective finite mind with its imagination, imaging, doubts, and limited awareness, to recognize one's True Essence.   As long as the finite mind tries to imagine or reason what its own Infinite Source is.. it WILL fail.. but there is a way to truly know..  and eventually this desire arises within us to go seeking THAT.

Unhappy with your religion? I suggest you try converting to any of the perspectives about our world that you may find at pantheism.net (Einstein's view about god was pantheism), secularhumanism.org, atheists.org, the-brights.net or even the Unitarian Church. Why not have a naturalistic view of the world? Why believe in extra-terrestrials and supernatural forces such as ghosts, angels, demons, devils and gods? Believers in this nonsense are delusional.

The only reason the three Abrahamic religions have their current flavor is because there were no asylums in Jerusalem. Why believe in anything that comes from the fanatical Middle East? If you have no noticed those countries are a retarded civilization that reminds me of the Crusades and Inquisition of the Christians. Their foundational texts (Bible, Koran and Torah) are discredited as source documents for the origin of man and the Universe. They are ancient documents filled with violence and conflicting information. If there were a god, he would surely make his existence and Will known to all in a divinely clear manner. Instead there are hundreds of different religions. About 15% are Christians and about the same percentage are Islamic. As Woody Allen said, "Not only is there no god, try getting a plumber on the weekend."

"Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius -- and a lot of courage -- to move in the opposite direction."

        - Albert Einstein

Actually, the three recognized religions are Judaism, Christianity and Catholsism.  Islam is a cult of death, not a religion in the traditional sense of an religion connected to Abraham. It is more of a secular movement and the opposite of humanism and aethism. Humanism still follows scripture and aethism follows ziltch, nothing, nadda.   Islam follows Muhammed.

Pantheism is a worldview, not a religion.

Einstein, by self proclamation, was a Jewish aetheist. Go figure!

The burden of proof is on the believer to prove there is a god. As Jodie Foster said, "I do not believe in god because I have seen no evidence." I don't have to prove there is no god or no Santa Claus. If a god wants to prove he exists he will know where to find me. The Christian god fails to reveal an existence to 85% of the world population. Do you know why? There is no god! There is a god for those who are weak and must have faith and must have a fictitious imagined god to make them feel good. God did not create man in his own image; man created god in his image!
