Greetings Yogi!  Interesting question.  I think many of the conflicts people find between religious pathways, which can be quite dogmatic and fairly narrow occur when a person grows outside of the particular viewpoint espoused by the religion in question.  It does not mean that the person has necessarily grown away from God, but rather maybe the pathway towards God.  I do agree with my fellow responder Elena regarding spirituality.  I believe that whatever religion one starts out with, the person has several choices, either follow it blindly without questioning whether it is truly right or wrong for that person or learn that there may be another pathway.  A person must be true to those principles that they hold to be the Truth. If the person holds to what is True than there is no interference because they are following what they understand to be Truth.  I believe that this is incumbent upon everybody to figure out his/her relationship with the Divine, whatever they see to be the Truth.  Oftentimes, differences occur when dogma dictates one thing, but listening to the I Am dictates quite another.

Victims of circumstance owe it to fate. Victims of choice owe it to themselves.

Religion should interfere with a person's life. What do you do?

  1. If  you believe what your religion teaches, change your ways.
  2. If you believe your religion to be false, seek spiritual answers elsewhere.

If we say we are religious but deceive our ownselves constantly.  Our religion is false.  ...Religion is suppose to bring life always.  Every body wants to be religious, somewhat, but we are all weak and we have to know G-D in order.

Jay, if you already doubt your religion it makes it harder to be effective humans.  Our religion is always what we do then what we say.  It feels beautiful when we grind our very contrary feelings.  So, that the nectar comes out.  Good.  Keep Good!

I am not sure "every body wants to be religious."  I think many are seeking... perhaps many are seeking spirituality, a connection to the Divine.  Despite what many may think, God does not belong to any one religion.  Religions are dogmatic... paths or ways to God that some have found.  But, what leads one to God, may not work for another.  The destination is the same, but, the path is different for all of us (even within any one religion).

Yogi-

I find it difficult to have any type of meaningful exchange with some people. Please explain to me how you came to the conclusion that I doubt my religion.

Or were you using the pronoun "you" in a general sense with no reference to Jay.

What people fail to realize is that religion is a base or a foundation of sorts not a be-all-end-all or to be taken 100% word for word. Any text was written by man and therefore can have flaws and be open for interpretation. You can give the same exact verse to 5 different pastors/preachers/gurus, and each one will have a slightly different message/perspective. So... you should use your religion as a base and then if something doesn't feel or sound right, question it, research it, see what feels right for YOU!

Religion was warped to "control" us and keep us on the "straight" path and get us to pay $ to the church. Who do you think invented tithing, certainly not God, he/she doesn't need money. If you do your research any religious text has been altered by man (God did not come down and pen it himself.. it was written by man, translated by man, hidden and found again by man) and therefore should not be taken at face value as if it were the end-all-be-all.

One should live their life based on the teachings of their religious beliefs and should not judge another or criticize another person for what they choose to do/believe, etc. That's the beauty of being created with free will.
