In Daniel 2 Daniel tells Nebuchadnezzar his dream and then revels the meaning of it. It was not of a beast but of a great statue, with head of gold (Egypt), its breast and arms of silver (notice how easy silver tarnishes) Persia, the belly and thighs of bronze (Greece), with the legs made of iron and the feet a mixture of iron and clay.
Okay now for the Iron legs it can be only Rome. We know this because Roman armies were masters of iron. The production and pollution from their Spanish mines post Maruis was unheard of in the ancient days. The army, if needed could march by foot 25 miles a day. Talk about strong legs! Anyway, the Imperial Army that again developed under Maruis, Pompey, and Caesar dominated all nations’ even friends and allies of Rome.
Iron as you know can last for some time, and it takes time to decay as well. Rome was no different the end of the Iron Legs came between the years of 235-283 AD. While the Iron was decaying, the mixture of iron and clay feet was evolving into itself. In 253 AD, the Emperor Valerian was captured by King Shapur I of the Parthian Empire, near Edessa; a completion of Rev. 16:12. This was the effective end of the Kingdom of Iron.
The effective beginning of the Kingdom of Clay and Iron mixed toes comes into existence in the year Emperor Diocletian divided the Roman Empire into two parts the Eastern and Western parts ruled by 2 Emperors and 2 sub-emperors, better know as the Tetrarchy.
In 306 AD Constantine is recognized as Caesar and defeats his 3 rivals. He abandons Rome moving into his brand new eastern capital Constantinople. Christian and with no pagan temples within the city, it did have 5 churches inside it. Of course by this time the Toleration Edict of Galerius of Sofia was passed (311 AD) mandating the toleration of Christians. Then in 313 AD the Edict of Milan was passed legalizing Christianity throughout the Roman Empire.
While the Eastern Empire grew stronger, the Western Empire grew weaker until Rev. 18 was fulfilled. The Visigoths sacked Rome in 410 AD, and then as Rev said twice Rev. 18:1-10 she would be shamed and in 455 AD, again Rome was sacked, this time by the Vandals. In 475 AD, Rome was abandoned to the barbarians that chose to rule from Ravenna. While the Eastern Empire based in Constantinople stood strong.
Fortunately, the Iron toes continued under the name of the Byzantium Empire, its capital was Constantinople. While the Clay toes fell into the Dark Ages. Just as Daniel had said, and by this time 475 AD, nearly a thousand years before! While the Byzantium Empire tried several times to recapture the West, it never succeeded. Another promise of John.
Okay now Revelation promises a 1000 year Christian Kingdom, for this we look again to the Byzantium Empire its dates from 475 AD to 1450 AD it was technology a Christian Kingdom. It never had decent relations with the Christianized barbarian controlled West ruled by the Pope in Rome.
I do not know about the other peoples, whose god promises a return and a thousand year Christian Kingdom. History on the other hand tells me my G-d has fulfilled all his promises as Jesus promises. It is very hard to write non-passive sentences in history. Since my editor demands so few of them LOL I beg your forgiveness for my use of them on Yedda-Glory to the Lord my God! And to you a great day.
Oh yes the stone, It is Christ who destroys all that deny him. And that is His job not mine.
