What is your definition of a "near perfect" marriage?

Are you in one now?  How many times have you tried it and been successful?  What are you looking for (your expectations) in a spouse/partner in life?  Will "you" do it again and WHY or WHY NOT?

How about a perfect marriage (rather than near perfect)? A perfect marriage is a selfless one, where one gives to the other without expectation of anything at all. The spouses put each other before anyone else, including themselves.

I am in a "marriage" like this. :)

Dear Yahshammah,

I appreciate your view on a "perfect marriage" and I'll explain a little more.  A "near perfect" marriage is a marriage where two individuals are always working towards a more perfect marriage, relationship or union.  That is not to say that the marriage is not good, but to state that you are working on the marriage being better today than it was yesterday.  I encourage "hard work" in order to achieve "perfection," instead of assuming perfection.  We as individuals are not perfect(fact), so it is through much effort and dedication that we strive for perfection in our lives.

Blessings,

I agree that we need to strive for perfection in our daily lives, however, TRUE LOVE is PERFECT and is not something that is assumed, it JUST IS.

Sorry to say, though, that even the "near perfect" marriage between men and women is a very rare thing, indeed.

In my opinion there is no perfect in anything or anyone on earth. I for one do not understand the concept of soul mate either. I know what people believe it to be. However I don't believe it exists. If you are in or trying for a relationship I would suggest that you don't look for perfection. You can't change anyone but yourself and even that is a hard thing to do. I tried marriage once and I would never do it again. After that I lived with someone for 34 years until he died. I would never do that again either. There probably are rare couples out there that can make it work and stay together but how can you know going in if that would be you. You'd have to be willing to take a risk. I for one prefer freedom and peace.

Dear Marjorie,

I agree, "you can't change anyone but yourself."  This is why people should be by themselves until they meet a compatible person to be with.  I don't believe that a person should enter a new relationship right after another one has ended(although, that is the most common mistake that people make).  It's best to take a break or two, enjoy and re-discover yourself.  Then and only then, will you be a good partner for someone else.  (I gave you a "thumbs up" for your insight). Wink

Blessings,

Dear rink,

A close friend doesn't always last forever.  Sometimes they die or leave you for someone else.  That, in itself is unfortunate and is the painful scary part of taking a risk.  It is also why some people just go around having casual sex...to avoid being hurt.  If you don't care, it doesn't matter when they leave does it?  JUST LEAVE ALREADY!
