Reinstalling components

The file "uncdms.dll" is a part of the Windows Desktop Search feature that is installed from Windows Upate. the file "uncdms.dll.exe" is not a valid file if you are receiving error messages for the file "uncdms.dll.exe" then it may be possible that you have/had a virus. I am going to work under the assumption that you're running Windows XP (please verify this).

1st: Try uninstalling Windows Desktop Search from the add/remove programs.(Method A: Click the "Start" button, click "Control Panel", double click "Add/Remover Programs")(Method B: Click the "Start" button, click "Run" type in "Appwiz.cpl"(without the quotes), click "OK") Be sure that you click the "Show updates" checkbox. Then select Windows Desktop Search then click "Remove".

2nd: If that doesn't work then try this:

Click "Start", then click "Run", then paste one of the following in the box that comes up:

2.6.0.2083     %systemroot%\$NtUninstallKB907371-V2$\spuninst\spuninst.exe

2.6.0.2057     %systemroot%\$NtUninstallKB907371$\spuninst\spuninst.exe

2.6.5.Beta      %systemroot%\$NtUninstallKB911993\spuninst\spuninst.exe

which one you choose depends on which version of the Windows Desktop Search you have installed. Also as a note ONLY copy from the first % sign to the last e, for example:

Say I have Windows Desktop Search version 2.6.0.2083 and can't find it in the "Add/Remove Programs" list then I would paste the following into the run box:

%systemroot%\$NtUninstallKB907371-V2$\spuninst\spuninst.exe

then click "OK" and follow the prompts.
