Red lights annoying help

I had the same problem and learned that the lights are different codes for different problems. My problem was  the circuit board needed to be re soldered so I litterally placed the circuit board ONLY in the oven which reheated the solder and everything is fine now. (high temp. no more that 15 min.) but dont hold me to it.

2 red lights indicate overheating. If you see these, shut down your console at once and allow it a few hours to cool. Cleaning out dust which can build up inside the console can help with this problem, since dust can clog the internal cooling systems and prevent them from working properly, as well as clogging the air vents. Don’t keep your Xbox in a cabinet while you play – keep it out where air can circulate around it; this can prevent your Xbox 360 from overheating.

3 lights mean that there is a general hardware failure in your Xbox 360 and that your console will have to be sent off to be fixed. The CPU or GPU may be burned out and will need to be replaced in many 3 light errors.

i know your frustration, but it's not a simple dust problem, your dvd drive is the problem, they are not hard to replace, but before you replace it,remove it and open it up and see if there is ANYTHING visually that would cause the the drive to crash, dusy balls, dvd laser track has no lube, broken plastic, etc...... etc...... and the only other issue  that may also cause this is if the cpu's cooling fan is, stuck, simply not turning on, the ventilation air way under the fan is loaded with dust balls, etc..... the reason it might be the cooling unit is that if the systems cpu is not being cooled it will CRASH within about 5 to 8 min's every time!!!, this system runs super hot, so hot microsoft literally made 2 fixes for it, 1 being a poor excuse, they released a how to on how to over ride the systems thermostat and just have the cpu fan run at full speed 100% of the time, this was my system's fix, its a little loud but keeps it cool, the other was an external cooling fan system that attaches to the xbox's case, most people have this, there for sale at Wall-mart  pretty much everywhere. hope this helped. a2turboz@yahoo.com for all xbox-360 hardware repair questions, well all computer, game systems, laptop, basically ALL electronic repairs for every kind of device. thanks Joshua Anderson Professional XBox, XBox360, Sony PS 1,2,3 you name it .......Electronics Technician. email for anything repair related if you are stuck.
