I have made a serger quilt out of used BDU's.  Kaye Woods has a pattern that's called the 6 hour reversible quilt.  Try her website www.kayewood.com   If you can't get it off of there just let me know & I'll type it out for you.

Also..  You can cut squares 4-6" and sew the squares together with wrong sides together using a 1/2" seam. After each one is sewn open and press.  Then add the next square.  This will make a rag type quilt top. By sewing with the wrong sides together you leave the seam on the right side.  It will give a frayed effect .
