Do people in israel realise the extent to which they have alienated themselves from the wider world with their skewered interpretations of the "right to self defence"?.... where killing women and kids with tank fire and f-16's are acceptable . israel exists because of the american blank cheque... which has now started fraying... time is not on israels side... do israelis understand that..... or are they going to keep labouring under the sparta syndrome?

Well Ravi,  where is the world that you live in?  Israel uses their weaponry for self-defense, mainly because they have every kind of missile the Iranians can lay their hands on coming at them at any given hour.  The only american made portion of it, is how that when purchasing oil from some arab nations, a good share of the profits goes to fund groups who specialize in getting the weapons in the hands of some of the very people who've been programmed from near infant age, to hate-unconditionally.  If this makes no sense to  you to respond in kind,  you need to move in next to me.  It won't take too long to teach this relative truth.  The fact that  the people they're firing at are using civilians as shields just should magnify that with their level of respect for human life, they may not be worth it themselves.   Get real,  I've nothing against you, but there are way too many of us out here with a little awareness of the truth and too stubborn to allow the bs to persuade us to pinch our noses and turn our heads.  Lord, come soon.........................

Yesterday's gone and Today is going fast, Tomorrow is all we have, Until it to has passed

Ravi, What IzabluByU said is true, especially the part about how they have been programmed aka brainwashed from little on to hate. They know no other way of life having been raised this way since they were small children. No human knows any more then he is taught by his authority figures and peers. (Who as well have been brainwashed) So is it any wonder they think it is OK to kill innocent people in the name of their "god" or self defense? Their consequences are clear, because in "their minds" they believe what they are doing is acceptable even honorable. This is what they have been "taught" and trained to do. Brainwashing is replete with justification for each action or actions. Just as 911 was carried out in this country, by out and out KILLERS, In their minds they were justified in their actions, according to what they had been programmed to believe. Simple as that.

I think a distinction needs to be made between all Israeli people and the Zionists. There is a vast difference in the ideology and behavior.

Tara, That's true, to lump them all into one catagory is unfair, just as it is to compare religious believers in this country to religious fanatics. Point well taken.

Every one who passes this kind of criticism over Israeli aggression seems to conveniently forget recent history. The Palestinians, as a rule, target mostly civilians. Suicide bombings became their preferred form of attack on Israel. In Gaza, the people firing missiles on Israeli towns are hiding behind civilian population. So sometime, not as a rule, civilians get caught in the line of fire.

The only reason for the latest aggression in Gaza is the result of the Palestinians attacks on Israeli civilian targets, without any provocation. And no, the barricading of Gaza is not a provocation - it was put in place only, again, to prevent Palestinians from attacking Israeli civilian targets.

what iza and other say is what one hears often from israelis .

my condemnation of israel is no justification of pal terrorism.

why cant israelis be objective and realistic? they have to live in an hostile neighbourhood... eventually the only way they will survive is by reaching an understanding with the pals... and then the arabs at large.

the israeli state policy of "searing defeat on the pal mind".. propagated by sharon  is a recipe for disaster. it is this mindset which allows otherwise decent israelis to justify the land grab and killing of women and kids as necessary self defense.....

israels policies and conduct are only expanding the swell of hatred against it... while it is the opposite you should be doing. how do you deter a pal who has his family killed, home destroyed, dignity squashed... from thirsting to kill israelis ? he is a willing convert to the al qaida way of thinking. sadly for israel the world at large is also getting tired of israels behaviour. get real

is it a touch of arrogance and the gods chosen thing which makes israelis behave in such a manner?

israel has been sowing a bitter seed.... the harvest will only get more and more bitter.

Ravi;  I'm not Israeli, but American.   I'm not even Jewish.   I've heard this "Palestinian issue" discussed-for my entire life so far.  I don't dislike anyone in the issue.  At least, not anyone who relies on violence as their first option.  I can't say the Israelis would still be there if not willing to respond-in kind-to what they've endured since 1948.  The problem, is that many of their surrounding opponents/neighbors, have never approached the issue from a balanced perspective.  Iran's 'president' as an example.  When most everything he speaks is based upon the prejudices and hatreds that he was undoubtedly raised with,  it's hard to take him seriously.  Behavior such as his is a signpost to identify an individual with a lot of distortions between himself, and reality.  People, such as this, often have the tendency to try and get reality to conform to the distortions they perceive.  This isn't meant as an attack on the Persian prez, but just as a comparison.  Yassar Arafat didn't approach the issue with anything but violence, until he began to see how he could profit from the 'diplomatic' approach.  Not an attack on Arafat either.  There are many signs denoting features of the problem, but none that truly seek an actual peaceful solution to the madness of birthing and raising kids for over a half-century of prejudiced hatred, infused with distorted religiousity teeming with vain pride.  Pride, to me, seems to have been the problem, all along.......
