Re-installing MS-office

My PC running Windows XP has become slow and I am planning to re-install it. I can't remember where I put the license string for the MS-Office. I do have the original disks.

Is there a way to retreive the office license string from the current installation so that I can re-install with the same one?

I'm not aware of any way to what you ask, but a google search did lead me to some interesting reads.

This is the official Microsoft answer to your question, which invloves a simple phone call to one of their Customer Support centers.
And if I may be so bold, take advantage of the situation and go MS free. OpenOffice is doing very well as a free alternative, Abiword is great for a stand alone word processor, and online productivity tools such as Google Docs & Spreadsheets or Zoho Tools are slowly but surely taking over the market.

Everest home edition is a free software (but will not work on any computers that are part of a domain), that will show you the liscence number of most software installed on your PC (including Windows and Office).
Here is a link:

btw - this software (only the free version) was discontinued, so you better hurry and download it while you can. It alos does many other great things (like benchmark tests)
