RAD in a toddler

My 2 year old son has had frequent difficulty breathing when he has had colds.  He experienced chest retractions and below average oxygen levels.  He was seen at the ER 3 times and given a nebulizer and steriod.  When he was discharged they gave him the diagnosis of Reactive Airway Disease (RAD).  After the 3rd time I requested to see a specialist.  In the meantime he has been taking Singular on a daily basis.  What should I expect to happen when he visits the specialist?  Is he going to have to take medicine forever?  Will he have asthma??

I recently went to a new doctor and noticed he was located in something called the Professional Building. I felt better right away.

he will probably have to go through skin testing at some point down the road to see what his allergies are. They may just test his blood for now at this age. They will probably keep him on the meds for some time now and monitor him frequently, with visits that include the breathing tests he had at the hospital and blodd tests every now and then to make sure he is doing ok on the meds....RAD is the modern term for asthma...it includes upper airway like the nose...so thats why they like the term better....and the sinus's
