Hello, I have the book "Nautical Voyages for Quilters", from which I made "Storm at Sea" for my husband for our 25th Anniversary (that was about 18 years ago!!). In this book there are patterns for 4" 8" and 12" blocks. I hadn't even looked at this book since I finished the quilt. I'm very happy to send it to you. Let me know. Rachel quilter397

Hello Rachel fellow quilter: Thank you so much for your response. I cann't begin to tell you how many hours I spent on the computer looking for a traditional storm at sea with pattern pieces. I found a few pictures but no patterns or a few wild variations of the quilt. I really appreciate your offer as I would like to make one for one of my sons who will be going to college next year(we don't know where yet but he probably won't commute). I already picked out my material and would like to do one with several fabrics really depicting a storm from the top of the quilt with the depths of varying darkness(blues) and rippling water. I don't know if this would really work or look good as the storm at sea pattern has it's own distinct look, but for some reason I want to make one with this effect. I wouldn't mind making a photo copy then sending the book back to you or having you make me a copy of the patterns as I don't want to see you give up your book. Does your husband or you still have the quilt? Do you have a picture? Again Rachel I appreciate your offer and thank you very much. My name is Ann Zeghibe Address 27 Atwill Road West Roxbury, Ma 02132

Well, Ann, looks like we're neighbors! I live up in Manchester, NH. I made quilts for all my kids as they left for college, then when they got married, then for all the babies. I still have one more though, and perhaps she'll be getting married by next year. Anyway, unfortunately the quilt I made for my husband is up at our Lake House in Franklin. So, you have plenty of time to make the quilt before your son leaves for college, so I'm going to put the book in the mail to you on Monday, take your time in photocopying whatever you need. Actually, just keep the book for as long as you need, then you can send it back. I don't anticipate needing it anytime soon. Please let me know, however, when you do receive the book. My email address is quilter397@comcast.net.(this is a new address as of yesterday). Hopefully it will go through as no one has sent me anything as of yet, but if it doesn't, you can always use my quilter397@aol.com. Okay, so that's it, you should be cutting out your pieces by mid-week. Your fellow quilter, Rachel

You can see the pattern and even download a template at hhtp://mccallsquilting.com/qb/pattern_206/.

Thought you might like to look at this until you get the book from Rachel.  Hope this helps.  Linda
