Read your bible, King James version, ask god into your life and repent(ask for forgiveness for anything you think you've done wrong) . Then ask for guidance and wisdom and ask him to give you peace and he will. Read and study your bible and ask god in the name of Jesus Christ for help. And he will help you.

God is love
Look at the universe around you, look at how your body and your mind and your soul are so complix. Look at history, how people have always been eager to reach out to God. They worshipped many gods. There is something in us tells us that there must be someone behind all this, someone in control, someone All-wise and Almighty, someone we need to go to when we are in need. Don't you think that God put this need and desire in us?
If God didn't exist, you wouldn't have any struggle with believing this!!
If you surf the net, you'll find many things. Have a look at this site:

God loves you so much... more than you may ever imagine.

It is okay to be confused about things where scientific or concrete answers are not available. God is one of those subjects where there is no proof so it is up to the individual, using their own logic and research to decide whether a belief in God is viable for them.
The best you can do is to research the many concepts of God and the many religions and decide if any of them fit your beliefs. You may find one or none or parts of many that, when joined together, come closest to your logical conclusions.
My own views are expressed in a treatise i wrote many years ago. A Search for Truth:

There is no creditable proof that Darwin went back to his earlier religious beliefs and most scientists and scholars accept that he was at least agnostic. I always find it astounding that people quote the bible to prove the bible is more than a book written thousands of years ago and touch up and changed as time goes on.

Going back to the original question. Why would anyone want to believe that there is a powerful god someplace watching the pain and suffering on this earth and not interested in helping those who innocently suffer. Babies burned to death on an airplane today, and a god that could make the earth and all this universe wasn't able to stop their suffering? Get real people. You are as good as it gets, stop expecting that a big loving father is going to make it all right. Its your job to make life better....not santa claus and not any of the gods that people have invented.

Livin in a small, backwoods, country, Southern town that's deep in a holler is like bein in Heaven.
I have been doing some research on God. I've even Googled God and found a site that answered a lot of my questions/challenges about God in such a manner that I couldn't argue with the answers using logic and since I don't want to be illogical, the logical conclusion based on both arguments for and against the existance of God is that the argument in favor of God are more convincing because I can't argue with them without sounding like I'm making up excuses and hoping that someone will buy them because they're so lame. I don't like the Jewish, pagan or muslim religions, so, I am going to be seriously investigating Christianity to see if I agree with it. After 32 years, I have found what I was looking for....God and peace (well almost at peace...still have some research to do).
