There are horrible little people here. Watch out!
(deleted account)
I understand how you're thinking. There have been times in my life too that I have questioned the reality of God, the authenticity of Jesus Christ, especially when pain and suffering hit my own life, I'd ask why??? And you know what?.. 'Asking' is how God revealed Himself to me. I came right out and asked Him to, and He did.
I want to ask you to do the same thing. Please try this; tell God in Prayer that you want someone to give you something, some little something without asking them for it. It could come by way of a complete stranger at a check-out counter offering you a penny if you're short-- I don't know how God will do it, but stay aware of this Prayer between you and God, be sincere when you Pray, and watch how much God loves you. Your Heavenly Father loves you so much that He will go so far as to reveal Himself to you if that's what you need! He may only do it one time, but He will do it! God knows your heart. He knows if you honestly want to know Him or not. I can tell you, if you do, He will make it very easy for you to come to Him, and believe in Him. Just ask, and Watch.
In learning about God.. developing a close relationship with Him myself, I found not only the Bible, but loads and loads of brilliant, inspiring information at Christian Book Stores! One of my favorite Movies is JESUS The Great Debate by Grant R. Jefferey. There is also a great documentry/debate type movie out about The Shroud of Turin really amazing intellegent discussions between Doctors, Scientists, Bible Scholars, Believers and Skeptics, etc.. based on so many Facts. There is so much to know, even with all I know now compared to before, I still feel like I'm walking around in a fog! Anyway, you have to find some good Book Stores for the Solid Proof you seek. And don't forget to ask God for something from someone! They will just give it to you and ask nothing in return. Watch! Glory be to God!

I also want to add this. There has been left for us tangable traces of God, things we can smell with our noses, see with our human eyes, touch with our human hands.. but what you want to know of God, you have to accept, is on a Spiritual level. God, Jesus, Angels, The Holy Spirit, Satan, demons, they all dwell in a Spirit Form that we cannot smell, see, or physically feel. Infact if we could see the Spirits all around us all the time, we would be terrified! God has a time and place for everything.. whether we are patient or not.
I wish we were friends! I would love to hang out and hit the Christian Book Stores! Watch some good Movies, with Tippy and Eileen too! God is my favorite subject! I want to know everything too!

Be Blessed.
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity (Love), I am become as a sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vauneth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seekth not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth.
And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is (Love) charity.
mrankens,
I would love to hang out with you too. Although we are in different states, we are friends. We are in the body of christ, we cannot get any closer than that.
God Bless!!!

Um, you guys, this question may be dumb but....what do you mean "in the body of Christ"? It is impossible to be in someone else's body. Please explain that to me logically.

Yesterday morning I had to rush my fiance to the hospital. I did test "God". I asked him that if he/she is there to make her be okay. She's fine and they didn't find anything wrong (she was having chest pain). Did God answer or was she just going to be fine anyway...I don't know? I still need a little more evidence. I am not your typical Agnostic...I do believe in spirits because I want to believe that this life isn't all there is to me. So, I guess that I'm not that far from the belief in God. There is one pastor that I really like personally so I'll probably talk to him about this. Satan and demons???? Sounds really, um, evil. There is one thing that I haven't told anyone, but, I live in an apartment that is in an old house (two apartments upstairs-mine is upstairs and two downstairs) Apartments 1 &2 are downstairs. When I get within about 3 or 4 feet of the door or windows of apartment 2, I start getting cold chills even though it's in the 90's outside. It is as if something that is pure evil is in there and it's creeping me out when I get near it. I know that the guy that used to live there was into all kinds of Occult things because he bragged that he could put a spell on me because he claimed to be a Witch. I never believed him, but, never got close to that apartment until after he was forced to move. Is it possible to sense evil?

AgnosticAmerican,
The apostle paul uses the phrase as a symbol of the church. He emphasizes the church's unity, even though there are varied gifts, ministries and personalities. The Bible tells us that Christ is the head of the church. As believers in Christ we are the body of Christ (His Church). The body you know has many members ( The hand, The Foot, The eyes, Ears, ect...), we as members of the church have different gifts given to us by God once we become saved ( Teachers, Prophets, Apostles, gifts of healing, helpers, ect...
Paul goes on to say that although we are different members, one is no more important than the other. How can the eye say unto the hand that I have no need of you or the ear to the feet, I have no need of you. He goes on further to say that those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon those we should bestow more abundant honour; And whether one member suffer, all members suffer with it; or if one member be honoured, all the members should rejoice with it. That there be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. The bottom line is, that christians should love one another and look out for one another. There should be no member that is looked on less important than another.
Once we accept Christ as our personal savior, we become members of the church (Body). When Christ died on the cross, he died for our sins, so we could become members of his church. The bible tells us that when he returns, he will be returning for his church and there we will live with him forever.
Although mrankens live in another state, I can call her my friend (my sister) because we are members of the same body (the church of Jesus Christ). This was made possible when Jesus died on Calvary for our sins.
Be Blessed and may you find the peace you are looking for. I certainly did.

I will answer your question in two parts, so that I won't miss anything:
1. Yes God did hear your prayer. He hears every thing. mrankens told you to try him and you did. He answered your prayer to prove to you that he is there. Did you not find it strange that your fiancee got ill right after mrankens told you to ask him a question? God may have been giving you an opportunity to ask him. When you did ask, he answered, that was not a coincident. You tried him and he came through.
2. Yes there are evil spirits that exist. You may already have a gift of discernment. That is when you can feel evil whenever you come in contact with it. It seems to me that you are not far from the kingdom of God. It appears that your soul is longing for something and if I can be so bold, I believe, that it is a relationship with God. Please talk to the pastor that you mentioned and ask him whatever questions you may have concerning salvation. If I were you, I would not delay. Since you do believe in evil spirits, then you must know that the devil does not want anyone to come into the knowledge of God. He is an enemy of God. If he can blind you to the truth he will. That is his main purpose. Once you get to know God and accept his son as your savior, not a devil in hell can touch you.
Be Blessed my Brother.

Tippy said it all so eloquently.. I have nothing to add right now.. except to say that I'm so happy to hear that God answered your Prayer and your fiance is alright! And I'm also happy to hear that you said.. you are "not that far from belief in God".
You will discover that everything makes more sense as a believer, and life is so much easier when you know your Heavenly Father, and know He is always on your side. It doesn't get any better than that!
I am sorry, I didn't mean to scare you in mentioning satan and demons. Like Tippy said, talk with your Pastor about this cold sensation you feel, and Pray to the Lord to protect you, He certainly will!
