Questioning-whatever-I-am

I'm so confused trying to answer the question of whether or not God exists for myself. I can't logically answer that and need some help coming to peace with that uncertainty. Can you help me?

Look at the universe around you, look at how your body and your mind and your soul are so complix. Look at history, how people have always been eager to reach out to God. They worshipped many gods. There is something in us tells us that there must be someone behind all this, someone in control, someone All-wise and Almighty, someone we need to go to when we are in need. Don't you think that God put this need and desire in us?

If God didn't exist, you wouldn't have any struggle with believing this!!

If you surf the net, you'll find many things. Have a look at this site:

God loves you so much... more than you may ever imagine.

It is okay to be confused about things where scientific or concrete answers are not available.  God is one of those subjects where there is no proof so it is up to the individual, using their own logic and research to decide whether a belief in God is viable for them.

The best you can do is to research the many concepts of God and the many religions and decide if any of them fit your beliefs.  You may find one or none or parts of many that, when joined together, come closest to your logical conclusions.

My own views are expressed in a treatise i wrote many years ago.  A Search for Truth:

All of this begs the question of what exactly is the word of god, as interpreted by who, from what sources and what languages?  Ancient Hebrew had a very limited and contextual vocabulary, especially written, and the same word was used for moment, period, day, era, depending on the context.

So Seven days could just as easily meant seven moments, periods, eras, or 24 hour days.  Lacking the context of the original spoken word It cannot be determined which was meant.  Literalist Christians get very hung up on the seven days, the rest of the world is just fine with eras or periods, and it takes the ridiculous requirement of the young earth off the table entirely.

As far as "stop letting men writing books misquote God's word" I would suggest that whatever version of scripture you have in front of you right now has been through that exact process enough times in the last two millenia as to be essentially indiscernable.  Your faith must transcend that book, and those who would interpret it for you.

Anyone and anything that stands between someone and the eternal only tends to obscure the view.  I can see more of God outside my window right now that I will ever find in any book, spoken by any preacher, or in any church.

I am NOT a Christian.  Religion is far too important to me to be tangled up in local mythologies. Does Christianity exist on Mars? In other Galaxies? It is entirely to self-centered to have any relevance beyond our little obscure flyspeck of the universe.

Most people on earth have never heard of Jesus, and at best less than 20% are Christians.  From a global perspective, it still falls into the realm of charming local legend and myth.

Whatever God there may be, must in the physical world function within the laws of physics that they themself created.  That kinda makes miracles tough to substantiate. Loaves and fishes?  How did that work, exactly?  Water into wine? Ethanol comes from yeast digesting carbohydrates, so how did that one get pulled off?  Oooh I know - never happened.

Read your bible, King James version, ask god into your life and repent(ask for forgiveness for anything you think you've done wrong) .  Then ask for guidance and wisdom and ask him to give you peace and he will.  Read and study your bible and ask god in the name of Jesus Christ for help.  And he will help you.

I hope that I never get accustomed to knowing scripture without reading it. Here's another quote for you and what I think that it means: "You shall strike his heel and he shall crush your head" I think that refers to two people: 1) Jesus Himself and 2) Christians...meaning that while he (Satan) may only cause us minor, temporary pain...we have the power to twart all his plans if we choose to use it (sadly, most Christians don't know that they have that power and "nigotiate" with him instead of crushing him into total submission and sending him (Satan) looking for a deep hole to hide in). Wouldn't you agree
