Question about the history of term insurance

Was the original life insurance term insurance? It seems to me that term insurance is a gamble and almost a sure win for the company. How many people file a death claim for term insurance?

Lots of them, but the ones who paid the premium never get paid because they are dead.  Lots of insurance seems to be betting against yourself.  Why bother, when prevention works well, and the insurance can never truly recover your loss.

the only thing the guy above said that was true is the person who is coverd never sees a penny...I am a life insurance agent and most of the claims my company pays out on is TERM.... term has a place..as does whole life...you buy an affordable whole life with a long term attatched to it..This accomplishes several things for you.1st you have a whole life working on being paid off by the time you get to your retirement years...the whole while having enough coverage on you to insure that no one has to pay any debts you leave behind. Second when you finish the whole life payments(usually in 10,20,or 30 years) with a good company you then have the option to convert your so called useless gamble of a term policy to a whole life and then begin to pay it off. the whole while staying with in your budget and keeping your family from going bankrupt at the event of your death. Term has a place.......any more questions contact daniisurs@aol.com i'm always glad to help
