Question About Pet Birds

I happen to love birds and of course, I love my pet bird very much. I was wondering if the "bird"  really loves me too!  Are they capable of feeling loving emotions for their owners ?

I have a little sun conure that I raised from when he was a featherless hatchling and not only does he cuddle and snuggle with me when he is happy, but he gets mad at me and yells at me and bites me when I have been gone. It takes him sometimes days to forgive me! I think that birds, just like other animals, feel emotions and consider us family.

I don't know, but they

can tell you apart from other people, at least cockatiels and parrots can, for sure.

The road to nowhere is paved with good 'intentions'.

You're cute.  I love birds too!  And they certainly can love you back, just like any other animal you are around a lot and care for, they become familure with you, they need you just like you need them, you are their Family, and their very best friend!  I hope you're together for a long time.

The word for attachment in birds is "bonding" and they bond with other birds in the wild or in flocks in captivity OR with people who socialize with them. Depending on the species, they may bond with more than one person, at times "dumping" one person for another. If they start to feed you, you know you are loved!

They do. Or, at least I know cockateels do. They snuggle and groom you and everything. I have a mean quaker parrot, but I heard if quakers like you they will "rub their butts on you".

Haha
