Putin "Person of the Year"... why??

Can someone explain to me why Putin was made Time Magazine's "Person of the Year"?  What's his deal?  What good has he actually done?  He kind of scares me....

Love is the battery of life....

Hi,

Times choosed Putin for 1 reason: Russia was on the brinks of caos and Putin lead his country to relative stability.  I think it's a wrong decision.  Putin is an Ex KGB and is playing a double role.... I would never buy from him even a 2nd hand car.... I don't belive to even 1 word of what he says.. He has one word in his mouth and one word in his heart...  The world will soon reveal his real face.
Best regards,

Hi,

Hi,

I certainly don't think he was worthy to even be nominated as "Person of the year". Putin has a dark past and there are many question marks regarding his actions in the early years of his career. We mustn't forget he grew professionally into communism and spent many years in the Russian intelligence under this regime. Communist Russia wasn't exactly known for its strong human rights platform to say the least.

I don't care what Putin has done in the past year. I don't think he's a legitimate candidate for this award.

, I`m Russian and live in Russia, and even I never voted for Putin as our president, I think he worthy to become the person of the year.I want to ask the person who writes in his answer about the "dark past "of Putin- can he prove it?Or he just wrote it without any proof? And advice him if he really will be able to prove it, sell this story to mass media. But if he can`t prove, it`s better for him not to blame honour and advantage of the president of Russia. He should be ashemed.Sorry for mistakes in English, hope you could understand me.
