These are some complicated questions. Different breeds of dogs have different personalities and this determines their behavior. Your dog is still young enough to change it's habits. I would get it in an obedience class or get one of these training collars that has a little shock to the neck whenever it does something wrong. It has a good tone and a bad dog tone. It will soon learn to just want to listen for the good and anticipate a small shock when it does something that is not permitted.I have one for my dog and it has been wonderful.I ordered it on the internet from Pet Smart and it's about $125.00 dollars.
As for the "Date night",I don't have one. You might try putting it in his crate but since he is so use to you and your husband being around alll the time he will probably just bark and carry on untill it drives your neighbors crazy. You can try putting it in the crate for a short time at first and using the collar to let it know that the barking isn't tolerated. It want happen overnight, but three or four days of doing that should break it of the bad habit.
As for table food, mine could be a vegetarian, he loves lettuce, raw potatoes, greeen beans out of the can and dill pickles. I could go on and on about the food he likes, but neither of us has that much time. The vet says he is healthy and solid built.Chocolate, grapes, raisins, and onions are a no no in a dogs diet.He likes everything except pop corn.He eats the meat we have if he wants it, but I don't worry if he doesn't.Dogs use to eat scraps that was left from the table or hunt their own food, they lived long lives so I'm happy mine eats what we do. Unless the vet says to quit, just let it be. Dogs are like children, they have to be taught the difference from right and wrong. Good luck.
